Welcome to Journey.  This is where it all begins.

This is where we take the first step, together, to discovering the abundant life in Jesus Christ.  On one level, Journey is the door to everything All Saints – it’s how we get on the same page, how we define our church character and culture.  But it’s so much more.  Journey is ultimately about the mysterious adventure of life in Christ.  It’s about getting equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate your Christ-following trek.  Yet, these Journey classes only offer a glimpse into the call of following Christ.  And here’s the exciting part: that even after this 12 week journey, you will have only taken a few steps.  This is indeed just the beginning.

Journey :: Beginnings
Believe, doubt and seek your way to Jesus

Journey begins with an exploration of what it means to believe, doubt and seek.  We start here because we recognize that we all come to All Saints with our own presuppositions and questions.  Journey is a safe place to ask these questions or express our doubts.

After we talk through how believing, doubting and seeking all play a part in the life of a Christ-follower, we will ask, who is Jesus?  We will look at how Jesus lived and what he taught to try and gain a better understanding of who it is we are striving to follow after.  We will then have an introduction to some various ways that we come to know Jesus more personally through prayer, Bible reading and journaling.

Journey :: Growth
The What and How of following Jesus Christ

Journey next plunges into the world of discipleship.  Here, we will explore how we live and grow in a life of following Christ.  The first week will define discipleship through the lens of faith and obedience, taking into account our perceptions of grace.  We will then dive into the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 as we grapple with the call of discipleship.  Finally, we will examine various spiritual disciplines which help equip us to live life as imitators of God.

Journey :: Leadership Development

The final Journey intentionally focuses on developing missional leaders.  We use “membership” material to teach missional leadership because the two go hand in hand – a contributing member of the All Saints community cannot help but be a leader. 

Leadership development at All Saints is about becoming part of something greater.  On one level, that something greater is this local church community.  But on an ultimate level, leadership development is about being equipped to fully participate in God’s mission of reconciliation to the world. 

This course will cover the core elements of what it means to thrive as a member of All Saints Church.  Week one will delve into our vision, mission, values, character and philosophies.  Week two will explore our core beliefs, lifestyle statement and our membership covenant.  Weeks three and four will address specific aspects of missional living and leadership.
