We said that the English word for hope really does give some level of uncertainty, but the biblical understanding of hope is life shaping, joyful certainty that our future is the eternal love of God in a new heavens and new earth.
This hope affects every area of our lives, yes, even your sexuality. Now, this passage shows how hope and your understanding of the future shapes the way you look at sex, romance, singleness and marriage. The passage we just read is outrageous. It shows that Christianity gave the world a revolutionary view about sex, Christianity gave a revolutionary view of singleness and marriage and how Christian hope reshapes our attitudes and actions in this area.
