The Death Of Theology
For this Sunday I am going to take a whirlwind "tour" of the story of Job-- his ruin and ultimate redemption. In the conversation with his friends who try to make sense of, that is "theologize" Job's calamities, we see shades of believer, doubter, and seeker in their exchange with the protagonist. It is only when "God shows up and speaks" (reveals himself...in a whirlwind) that Job finally makes sense of this. God showing up is critical for our understanding of who he is. My point is to show the futility towards "explaining" God through systems of thought and point out that all these "systems" make sense only as the true revelation of God- Jesus, informs us.
Listen up: It’s the end of theology!
